HEY BABY GIVE ME YOUR NUMBER is a long-term project based on the reclaiming of spaces that women are often cat called and/or sexually harassed. Over the last few months, I have been documenting women that live, work, and/or go to school in Atlanta who have dealt with this reoccurring and often taboo issue. In this work, I have brought women back to locations where they have experienced a physical or emotional trauma of sexual harassment, and I photographed these women as confident and not defined by their previous trauma in this space that they are reclaiming. As an artist and woman growing up in Atlanta who has experienced this, it is important to me to bring to light this reoccurring problem, and to empower women’s self-worth through confronting the harsh reality of sexual harassment in Atlanta.
